Since 1954 the Women’s Auxiliary
has worked together with the firemen of the Palmer Engine & Hose
Company, giving them assistance, as needed, for 911 emergencies and
firehouse related events. We have supported our firefighters and other
responding personnel at emergency scenes and have prepared and served
them sandwiches, hot meals, and drinks as needed. Each year we work on
the annual Fire Company Open House, which opens the facility to our
community for viewing and member recruitment. We have also helped with
county conventions held in Kinderhook, as well as supported the
firefighters at battalion meetings, memorial ceremonies, and other
special events.
Our biggest fundraiser is making
and selling fried dough at Kinderhook’s Community Night. It is a great
way to get involved with your neighbors and meet new people; not to
mention have a lot of fun. For further information on the Women’s
Auxiliary of the Palmer Engine & Hose Company, please contact Dorothea
